Ending a Self Hypnosis Session
When doing self hypnosis you must end the hypnosis session.
This means that instead of getting up and just moving about,
you need to set a way to clearly define in your mind that
hypnosis has ended. Many experts recommend that a person never
associate sleep with self hypnosis. While during self hypnosis
you are in a very deeply relaxed state you are however not a
sleep. There fore you should never just go to sleep to end a
self hypnosis session because the mind will begin to associated
the two different occurrences together though.
Just as there are many different ways to start and induction
into the hypnosis state, there are many different ways that one
can end a hypnosis session. If this is new to you then it is
best to experiment with different ways of ending a self
hypnosis session to find the way that is best for you. We are
all individuals and our hypnosis sessions will differ from that
of someone else. What works for one person will not work for
the next person. This applies with ending a self hypnosis
session as well. With that said then you should not be
discouraged when you have tried one or two different ways and
neither one of them are working for you. Just keeping trying
out different ways until you find the one that is right for you
as an individual.
One way to end a self hypnosis session is to use visualization.
In this you will visualize yourself coming out of the hypnosis
trance and becoming alert and functioning. Visualize yourself
becoming alert, then proceed to visualize yourself standing up.
From there you can visualize yourself going back to normal
daily activities. This should help your mind to make the
distinction between hypnosis state and the alert state of
mind.
Another way you can end the hypnosis session is to use your
inner voice to talk yourself out of the hypnosis. Say to
yourself in your mind what you need to for your mind to make
the distinction and to draw the line mentally between hypnosis
and alert. One thing you can say to yourself is that “ I am
going to count backwards from 5 and when I reach 1 I will
become alert.” Then proceed to count backwards slowly from 5 to
1. When you reach 1 you will be alert and your self hypnosis
session will have ended.
Some people may choose to do a self hypnosis session at night
before bed. This is fine and of course bed time and sleep will
follow the session. The only thing you must remember is that if
you are doing a session at this time and are going to bed
afterwards, you still must do something to end the session. It
is not a good thing to have sleep and hypnosis combined
together in your mind. So make sure that before you get up to
head for bed that you end your session
first.
